Welcome back to our restaurant blog! Today, we are going to talk about something really special. We are going to talk about our Thalis. A Thali is not just a meal. It is an experience. It is a complete meal served on a large plate with many small bowls. Each bowl contains a different dish. Together, they create a perfect balance of flavors, textures, and colors.

The word “Thali” actually means plate in Hindi. But in the world of food, it means so much more. A Thali represents the idea of a balanced meal. It has something sweet, something spicy, something sour, and something savory. It is like a journey through different tastes all on one plate.

At our restaurant, we offer Thalis with different main proteins. We have Vegetable Thali, Fish Thali, Chicken Thali, Lamb Thali, and Prawn Thali. Each one is unique and delicious. Let us explore each one in detail. By the end of this blog, you will want to try them all!

What Makes a Thali Special?

Before we dive into each Thali, let us talk about what makes a Thali special. A Thali typically includes the following items:

– A main curry or protein dish
– Dal (lentil soup)
– A vegetable side dish
– Raita (yogurt with spices)
– Pickle or chutney
– Rice
– Bread like naan, roti, or puri
– A small sweet dish or dessert

All of these items are served together on one big plate. The idea is that you take a little bit of each and mix them together. Every bite can be different depending on how you combine the items. It makes eating fun and exciting.

Thalis are also great value. You get so many different foods in one meal. It is perfect if you are hungry and want to try a bit of everything. Now, let us look at each of our Thalis.

Vegetable Thali

Our Vegetable Thali is a feast for vegetarians and anyone who loves plant-based food. It is packed with flavor and nutrition. Even if you are a meat lover, this Thali will surprise you with how delicious it is.

The main dish in our Vegetable Thali is a mixed vegetable curry. We use fresh seasonal vegetables like cauliflower, potatoes, peas, and carrots. They are cooked in a rich tomato and onion gravy. The gravy is spiced with cumin, coriander, turmeric, and a little bit of ginger and garlic. It is full of flavor but not too spicy.

Along with the vegetable curry, we serve dal. Our dal is made from yellow lentils. It is cooked until soft and creamy. We temper it with garlic and cumin seeds in hot ghee. This gives it a wonderful aroma and taste.

We also include a dry vegetable dish. This is usually a stir-fry of beans or okra with light spices. It adds a different texture to the meal.

To cool things down, we serve raita. Raita is yogurt mixed with grated cucumber and a pinch of roasted cumin powder. It is cool and refreshing. It balances out the spices in the curry.

Our Vegetable Thali also comes with steamed rice, a piece of fluffy naan bread, and a small sweet like gulab jamun. Gulab jamun is a soft milk ball soaked in sweet syrup. It is the perfect way to end the meal.

This Thali is wholesome, satisfying, and full of variety. It shows that vegetarian food can be anything but boring.

Fish Thali

If you are a seafood lover, our Fish Thali is for you. It is fresh, light, and full of coastal flavors. Fish is cooked in a special way that brings out its natural taste.

The main dish is a fish curry. We use firm white fish like cod or tilapia. The fish is cooked in a tangy curry made with tomatoes, onions, and coconut milk. The coconut milk adds a creamy richness. The curry is spiced with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and green chilies. These are classic flavors from the coastal regions of India.

We also serve a piece of fried fish on the side. The fish is marinated in a mixture of red chili powder, turmeric, and lemon juice. Then it is coated in a light batter and fried until crispy. This gives you two different ways to enjoy fish in one meal.

The dal in the Fish Thali is made with toor dal, which is a type of split pigeon pea. It is light and easy to digest.

The rice in this Thali is plain steamed rice. It pairs perfectly with the fish curry. We also serve a coconut chutney that adds a sweet and tangy kick.

To finish, we serve a refreshing sweet like fruit custard. It is light and not too heavy.

Our Fish Thali is perfect for those who want a lighter meal. It is healthy, delicious, and packed with ocean flavors.

Chicken Thali

The Chicken Thali is one of our most popular orders. Chicken is loved by everyone, and this Thali gives you chicken in two different ways.

The main curry is a classic chicken curry. We use bone-in chicken pieces. The bone adds extra flavor to the gravy. The curry is made with onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, and a blend of aromatic spices. It is cooked slowly so the chicken becomes tender and the gravy becomes rich. The spice level is medium, so it is enjoyable for most people.

Along with the chicken curry, we serve a chicken tikka. Chicken tikka is boneless chicken that is marinated in yogurt and spices. Then it is cooked in the tandoor. The pieces are charred on the outside and juicy on the inside. This gives you a dry and a wet chicken dish in one meal.

The dal in the Chicken Thali is made from red lentils. It is light and creamy.

We also include a fresh green salad. The salad has onions, cucumbers, and tomatoes with a squeeze of lemon. It adds crunch and freshness to the meal.

The rice is Jeera rice, which is rice cooked with cumin seeds. It is fragrant and pairs beautifully with the chicken curry. We also serve butter naan on the side. Butter naan is soft bread that is brushed with melted butter. It is perfect for scooping up the gravy.

For dessert, we serve a small portion of kheer. Kheer is a rice pudding made with milk, sugar, and cardamom. It is creamy and sweet, the perfect ending to a hearty meal.

Lamb Thali

The Lamb Thali is for those who love bold, meaty flavors. Lamb is richer and more intense than chicken. It is perfect for a special occasion or when you want to treat yourself.

The main curry is a lamb rogan josh. This is a famous Kashmiri dish. The lamb is cooked in a deep red gravy made with onions, tomatoes, and a special blend of spices. The spices include fennel, cardamom, and cloves. These give the curry a unique and aromatic flavor. The lamb is cooked for a long time until it is fall-off-the-bone tender.

In addition to the curry, we serve a lamb seekh kebab. This is minced lamb that is mixed with herbs and spices. It is shaped onto skewers and cooked in the tandoor. The kebab is smoky, spicy, and juicy.

The dal in this Thali is made with chana dal, which is split chickpeas. It has a nutty flavor and a slightly grainy texture.

We also serve a mint chutney on the side. The mint chutney is fresh and herby. It cuts through the richness of the lamb.

The rice is Pilau rice, which is cooked with whole spices. It is fragrant and beautifully colored. We also serve garlic naan. Garlic naan is bread that is topped with fresh garlic and herbs. It is packed with flavor.

For dessert, we serve a small piece of barfi. Barfi is a sweet made from condensed milk and cardamom. It is dense and delicious.

Prawn Thali

Last but not least is our Prawn Thali. This is a luxurious meal for seafood enthusiasts. Prawns are sweet, tender, and cook very quickly.

The main curry is a prawn masala. The prawns are cooked in a spicy gravy made with onions, tomatoes, and a hint of tamarind. The tamarind adds a slight sourness that balances the heat. We use black pepper and ginger to bring out the sweetness of the prawns.

Along with the curry, we serve a few pieces of prawn tikka. The prawns are marinated in a spicy yogurt mixture and grilled until they have a nice char. They are smoky and full of flavor.

The dal is moong dal, which is made from split mung beans. It is light, yellow, and easy to digest.

The raita in this Thali is made with pineapple. The sweet and tangy pineapple raita is a wonderful contrast to the spicy prawns.

The rice is Lemon Rice. The lemon adds brightness and freshness. It pairs perfectly with the prawn curry. We also serve plain naan bread.

For dessert, we serve a small scoop of mango ice cream. It is fruity, creamy, and the perfect way to end the meal.
